Pictured left: Oi You’s affable George Shaw and Envisage Design’s Simon Owen with his winning art panel by Anna Johnstone.

Oi You! is an interactive arts event where artists from local colleges and the wider community are invited to design their own urban art panel, the best of which werecreated and exhibited in a playfully distorted streetscape at Founders Park. This also included imagery of classic urban art, video footage of urban art in action, and a Scrawl Wall for visitors to have a go themselves.

Urban art’s popularity has exploded over the past few years; 2008 saw six fifteen metre high works placed on the riverside facade of London’s Tate Modern, last year saw over 300,000 visitors queue for a minimum of two and a half hours to see Banksy’s landmark show at the Bristol Museum. Here in Nelson, urban art features heavily in our college art and design rooms but before now, has not had a public platform.

Oi You! concluded with an auction of the works exhibited on site at Founders Heritage Park on Saturday 23 October.  The Cut Collective nominated their first and second in each category and these were announced by Te Radar directly after the auction:

  1. Open Section Winner – Anna Johnstone
  2. Open Section Runner Up – Ghstie
  3. Youth Section Winner – Jesse Allardice
  4. Open Section Runner Up – Hayden Gundry

Have a look at some of the samples below that Envisage has designed lately. Don’t they look so different from each other? Just like the people behind them, these invitations have a very special meaning.

dancemoves

DanceMoves specialize in small group tuition in Salsa Partner Dancing,Bachata, Rueda and how to free your spirit and enjoy your individuality on the dance floor. Director Catherine Callaghan brings more than 20 years of dance teaching experience to her Nelson-based business, DanceMoves.

Freelance web designer Simon Owen, at Envisage Design, is proud to have recently helped Catherine rebrand her website and bring her business to Googles’ attention. DanceMoves now ranks on the first page, and thanks a full listing on Google Maps, students can easily find the dance studio.

Catherines’ is a cost-effective site rebrand, even so, at Envisage we never cut corners when it comes to functionality and attractive design.

Our multimedia skills also came in handy during this project. We filmed, edited and cut interactive dance-step DVDs for Catherine’s students. Time to get your groove on!

Bethlehem Web Design

‘Drop-dead gorgeous’ is what our client said when they took delivery of their new business cards last week.

The clever chaps at Bethlehem Web Design approached Envisage Design asking for some branding sparkle before going to print. This is what we are very good at; taking an idea and giving it wings.

We wish Bethlehem all the very best as they take their exceptional web and software design skills to market.

More fashion madness. This time at the 2010 Effie Awards, SkyCity, Auckland New Zealand.

We love building things like this ‘on the night’ fashion clip above; super-tight deadline, dream client and fantastic support from a team of truly talented people. Thanks to the generous fellas at NBR, winners received $1000 folding (on the night) each.

Winning an EFFIE is about meeting a challenge and succeeding. Introduced by the New York American Marketing Association in 1968, EFFIE is recognised by advertisers and agencies as the pre-eminent award in the advertising industry. It is the only award that honours creative achievement in meeting and exceeding advertising objectives.

EFFIE winners combine all the disciplines of successful marketing program: planning, market research, media, creative and account management and demonstrate a partnership between agency and client in the creation, management and building of a brand.

From Europe to New Zealand, EFFIE programs are now held in 25 countries on five continents. EFFIE today represents the pinnacle in advertising effectiveness. In country after country, the EFFIE name is gaining prestige and becoming THE award to win. No other advertising award is so widely recognised and coveted in so many places.

birthday party themes

Once upon a time Fairy Daisy needed a chocolate-box-style website to promote her birthday party theme business…

To cut a long story short, let’s just say that Everybody Lived Happily Ever After!

This is a full-on Web2.0 site, complete with a dynamic homepage slider that Daisy can change at any time. A bevelled look to the site helps give a soft and freindly impression – just like Daisy!   It’s websites like these that make being in the design industry so much fun. All the best with the site Daisy – we hope it really flies!

Check out Fairy Dasies’ new site at www.birthdaypartythemes.co.nz
